SPACECODE and Tyco Electronics Enter Into Collaboration For Installation Of Mini RFID Readers In Label Encoders, Printers And Other Devices.

RFID solution designer SPACECODE and RFID component manufacturer Tyco Electronics announce the development of an advanced low frequency embedded RFID reader system. Targeting the rapidly emerging market for embedded RFID readers, the solution presents a first-in-class integratable magnetic induction RFID solution. In spite of definite market need, such solutions had to date proven elusive due to the inherent challenges in developing LF embeddable components.

The new Neptune ZX 50, which is shipping immediately, is a scaled-down version of Neptune ZX25 launched in July 2005. The smaller reader will also be more affordable than its larger relative. “the technology development and economies of scale are finally making it possible to build small readers at low costs” says Paul Davis, CEO of SPACECODE. According to the company, the Neptune ZX50 will be priced in the range of 5 – 10 fold lower than the Neptune ZX25 reader.

The Neptune ZX50 can be embedded in printers, handhelds, and other peripherals for customers and will no longer require stand-alone functionality and space. Says Paul Davis, CEO for SPACECODE. “We are convinced that the embedded reader market represents a significant potential market for the company”
